The Cause of Lower Back Pain After Deadlifts
pain February 6th. 2021, 3:17pmLower back pain after deadlifts can indicate an injury like a spinal disc herniation. No amount of stretching, or additional weight training can help in this regard. One needs to first find the causes of the lumbar back pain which, in most cases, is a breakdown in deadlifting technique/form. Once the mechanism behind the pain is eliminated, then only can training progress without the risk of further injury. Professional olympic weightlifters and powerlifters pay close attention to their lifting technique in order to prevent back injuries and enhance performance. It is for this reason that these athletes start out with an empty barbell or even lighter training aids, when they first learn the lifts. Remember, function follows form. In other words; to properly benefit from a functional movement, the technique of that movement must be good.
